The Bearpaw Hungarian Horsebow is an interpretation of the traditional Hungarian bow, associated with the ancient tribes of the Pannonian Plain, as well as the renowned hussar cavalry of the medieval Kingdom of Hungary. It is a short traditional bow with dynamic curves, inspired by the design of reflex Asian bows discovered on Hungarian territory. The grip is comfortable and fits perfectly in the archer’s hand, while the limbs (“szarvak”) are strong and flexible, ensuring a quick arrow release.

Mounted archery has a long history in Hungary due to the Asian roots of the Hungarian people. There are many similarities between the lifestyle of ancient Hungarians and that of the nomads of the Asian steppes, including their equipment and military techniques. Hungarians regarded bows as highly valuable objects, essential for both hunting and warfare. They were known to care for their bows with great attention.

With such a rich tradition behind it, the Bearpaw bowmakers felt compelled to deliver a capable bow—ideal for a young archer or a beginner seeking a quality bow to take their first steps into the world of archery. As a Penthalon bow, the traditional archer is assured that the Hungarian Horsebow offers impeccable quality, helping them improve their technique whether practicing traditional archery or shooting from horseback.
